EGO DEATH

“The Internet”, (a soul rap group formed in LA) and part of collective “OFWGKTA”, have quickly become my staple, Morning, Evening and generally any time that I want to feel cool and calm music.

Their third album Ego Death released this year (2015), has had me absolutely hypnotised for weeks. Songs such as “Girl”, which like most of the album is fairly downtempo, has me smoothly oozing through life at a seductively productive rate.

Meditative beats draw you into a trance until you are present enough to acknowledge the cuttingly honest lyrics. Commentary on social media and how we view and present ourselves requires the listener to question their very being, which in this blind and faux-indulgent modern society is perhaps exactly what we need and are asking for. If your parents can’t parent you, perhaps your favourite rap group can.

This is well and truly music for your soul.
