Lucien Pinchon is an Art director and Photographer currently based in London.
Lucien approached me to do a shoot and I leapt at the opportunity. I had heard of Lucien through the grapevine of creatives at fashion parties and club nights and having seen his work I felt privileged to have been asked.
Since shooting with Lucien I wanted to ask him some questions so we can get to know a bit more about the boy behind the lens…
Q. Who are you?
A. Hello, my name is Lucien, i’m 23, I live in North-East London, I make images and I walk like Naomi Campbell. Seriously, I can’t stop.
Q. Where are you from?
A. Paris, mon amour.
Q. How long have you been in London and what brought you here?
A. I ‘ve been here for a year and a half now and I think what brought me here is a need of change. Plus I was mainly working in English in Paris so it seemed like the next step.
Q. Sugar or spice ?
A. Spice, I try to stop sugar.
Q. Noodles or Rice?
A. Rice really. Thats homely.
Q. Naughty or nice?
A. I’d like to say naughty.
Q. What is your favourite subject to shoot?
A. Gosh hard to say ! I guess a mood. A sensation. When I shoot my own things It’s not only about beauty. It’s more about the outcome. The most important thing for me is to feel something and hopefully others will too. I’m interested in that “Je ne sais quoi”.
Q. What do you look for in a muse?
A. A conversation.
Q. What does the word Queer mean to you?
A. An interesting future.
Q. What does the london club scene mean to you?
A. Freedom. I have to say, when I moved here, I was lost and didn’t know many people at first. The club scene made me feel like “don’t worry, its all good. Dance”.
Q. How do you find living in London as a young artist.
A. Hard but Absolutely fabulous.
Q. What is next for you and where can we expect to see your work?
A. Well your pictures are the start of a new project about performers that i’d like to exhibit. But it’s a work in progress. On top of my image making I manage with my boyfriend our Photo & film studio, BLACKDOOR. It’s fast becoming a real creative hub, a place where people can come and express whatever ideas they have. We are also starting to arrange performances, private views and we have a party coming up. So see you there!
