FEATURE QUEEN!

Over the course of the last year I have had the opportunity to meet many many drag queens, club kids and superstar DJ legends!

One person who continually pops up on my feed throwing CRAZY, next level looks is the towering, amazonian queen that is ELLIS ATLANTIS.

Artpornblog hit Ellis up on social media to ask her some questions. She was on her way out at the time, as any good queen is, but we got our answers the morning after…

Q. I found you in a club but where did you come from?

A. Originally I started Drag at a Venue in Bradford called “Candy Bradford” just under a year ago.

Q. Where are you now?

A. I am based in London full time and have been for just under 2 years.

Q. Are you tucked or untucked?

A. TUCKED ALL THE WAY! I couldn’t imagine being Untucked.

Q. Burgers or sushi?
A. Burgers. A double Beef burger with added bacon and cheese is my calling!😍💕

Q. Pink or Purple?
A. PINK.

Q. Who and what most inspires your looks?

A. To be honest I try and stay away from others. Obviously I’m influenced by amazing Artists that I follow on social media like: @bigandmilky @ryburk @vanityvenom @valentinesteaphon are just a few I that I follow but I just try and do my own thing. Nothing is original anymore so I guess it’s just taking it to a place that’s fresh again and that’s what I try to do the most.

Q. Is there anything you would say to someone who is considering trying drag but has never done it before?

A. DON’T DO IT! Jokes, just be yourself and always be the best you can be, that way no one can say your not trying if your giving your best.

Q. What does the London Club scene mean to you?

A. The London Club Scene has literally changed my whole mind set of my future and my artistic direction, so to speak! It gave me a place that I could expose my creativity to the world with out being put down or frowned upon, it really made me appreciate friends and that family bond you create with your close friends, and with out the London Club Scene “HausBound” would of never been formed, so I’m extremely grateful for that!

Q. How would it affect you if they closed your favourite venues down/ completely murdered the remains of soho/ camden or east london?

A. It would be awful, Atlantis would become a money related queen, socialising in drag would be so much harder and that’s my favourite thing to be honest. Yeah it’s fun being paid to do what you love but I Honestly love getting ready with my friends taking the tube to Room Service or Ultraviolet and just having fun, when you socialise in drag there’s no pressure to complete certain jobs requirements etc so it means you can just relax. My main goal with drag is to not take myself to seriously, I mean I’m a man in a dress after all. So having these venues to socialise in allows me to keep Atlantis fun and relatable and not a Queen who only appears when it involves Bookings and money.

… ELLIS ATLANTIS is a Prime example of London’s incredible club culture. This culture breeds and nurture’s artists, performers and DJ’s all across the city and many travel to London just for this scene; and like Ellis find a home.

Without this scene much of London will melt into the dull grey skies of commerce. Recent closures of many of London’s TOP queer nightspots has caused upset and outrage amongst many of these beautiful creative individuals and it is up to them to keep flying the CLUB FLAG and keep Clubland alive and free!!!
