LIPSYNC FOR YOUR LIFE!

For the last 10 weeks, super club “The Glory”, in Haggerston has been home to the vast sweating hoards of east londons fags and their hags all gagging at the bit to scream for their favourite Queens.

From week one it has been nigh impossible to get through the door unless you are at least an hour early. And it really is no surprise considering not only the dire need for a friendly new queer venue in London; but also the marvel that is anyone who is anyone far and wide has been donning their drag and laying down the gauntlet with their best lip-syncs.

The #LIPSYNC1000 has had “never-before-seen” Queens pulling some serious game out of the bag!

Renowned “Hot-Boy” and Virgin Lipsyncer, Ollywood had this to say…

“All leading up to it I felt sick , I would go from being excited to wondering what the fuck I was doing. I was worried my idea wasn’t gonna make people laugh. I was terrified id freeze with stage fright. On the day everything just became a blur, I was over come with nerves but weirdly when I was walking to the stage through the crowd I became extremely calm. I just thought, fuck it I’m here now. The crowd was so loving and responsive. I can’t remember a lot of the actual performance but I was just so relived it went exactly how I wanted it to and nothing went wrong. Afterwards I was emotionally drained and just wanted bed. But the following days after I totally caught the bug and I couldn’t wait to get back on that stage. So excited to be in the final with so many amazing lipsyncers and good friends. This time around I’m just excited not nervous so much, I wish I had enjoyed the first experience more. This time I wish to savour every moment. I just want to have as much fun as possible.”

“Winning would be nice, but I did this as a personal test and I’ve achieved it now and gone further than I had hoped so every experience now is a bonus.”

The final of the #LIPSYNC1000 see’s 18 fierce queens taking to the stage! They each have 4 minutes to show their LOOKS, CHOREOGRAPHY and most importantly their LIP-SYNCING skills!

There will be 5 Star judges all of whom are important figures and celebrities in Queer culture:

PANTI: Ireland’s premier drag queen and prominent gay activist. Supreme lip-syncher.

GRACE DENT: Journalist, critic, writer. RICHARD THOMAS: Composer and lyricist, Jerry springer the opera, Anna Nicole The Opera, Made In Dagenham The Musical. DICKEI BEAU: UK’s expert lip-syncher of the avant garde. LE GATEAUX CHOCOLAT: International opera and cabaret star.

RICHARDETTE of The George and Dragon will be adjudicating to make sure all acts are marked fairly and early acts get the attention they deserve.

The final performance line-up (in no particular order), is one of the most exciting ever seen on the scene and consists of as follows:

Expect tears and cheers starting from 8pm till whenever! This could be like “Andrew Logan’s, The Alternative Miss World” and could last for days after everyone has gone home.

Since it’s opening only a few months ago; “The Glory” has provided a nurturing and loving home for a huge array of talent new and old and is equally as loving for any old Joe from the street who fancies a bevy and a chat.
